HV Gamer Con Announces Major Broadcast Partnership as the Capital Region Increases its Significance in the Esports Industry
HV Gamer Con will be the largest esports tournament ever held in upstate New York

Albany, N.Y. – The team behind HV Gamer Con 2019 is excited to announce a partnership with N3rd Street Gamers (NSG) for broadcast rights of the collegiate tournament play on March 30 and 31 at the Albany Capital Center.

N3rd Street Gamers is an esports infrastructure company. NSG owns and operates esports venues (Localhost Arenas) and the nation’s premiere amateur tournament pipeline, National Championship Series (NCS). With roots in the industry going back to 2007, the NSG team organized in 2014 to empower competitive video game communities with resources to grow. NSG has since provided hardware, tournament administration, and broadcast services to gamer communities nationwide.

NSG’s mission is to increase the accessibility to esports and increase the social, career, and competitive opportunities for gamers. In 2019, NSG’s National Championship Series will include more than 1,000 esports events throughout the country including Grand Finals at the company’s flagship 18,500-square-foot Localhost Arena in Denver, Colo.

Eighteen Colleges have committed to bringing their esports teams to compete in HV Gamer Con, a weekend tournament of Fortnite, League of Legends and Overwatch. Those teams include Siena College, RPI, Alfred State, Stockton University, Providence College, King University, Thomas College, Neumann University, Sacred Heart University, Mansfield University, Saint Peter’s University, Niagara University, Drew University, SUNY Canton, Stevenson University, Canisius College, Fairfield University and Marist College.

“We are incredibly excited to be hosting this event at the Albany Capital Center. The event will bring in hundreds of esports competitors and enthusiasts to the area and is shaping up to be a major success,” said Doug McClaine, general manager of the Albany Capital Center.

In addition, a recent study by the Center for Economic Growth (CEG) found the Capital Region’s video game development cluster continues to grow. CEG surveyed 21 Capital Region game development studios with more than 400 workers.

“We found that in just the past year, large studios in the Capital Region’s video game development cluster added 5.6 percent more jobs over the past year and all have hiring plans for the next 12 months,” said Andrew Kennedy, president and CEO of the Center for Economic Growth.

Further solidifying the popularity of collegiate esports, the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), one of the partners involved in HV Gamer Con, officially announced the launch of its dedicated ECAC esports website containing news and information including schedules, standings, and player rosters.

Tickets for HV Gamer Con 2019 are on sale now. All session tickets will be $40 for adults and $20 for students. Individual session tickets will be $25 for adults and $15 for students and include access to the competition and expo.
